Moscow: Wow....

By Travelling Divas on September 22, 2016, 1:00 pm | Leave a comment

Moscow is WOW...

The first time I visited Moscow was October 1993 and the overwhelming impression of the city wasn't great:  my memories were of angry people, drab surroundings and a proliferation of the colour brown.   I must point out that I did arrive right in the middle of the coup brought about by Boris Yeltsin, so this probably didn't help!  It also meant no goose-stepping guards outside of Lenin's tomb and the Kremlin and Armoury in lock-down.  There was security stationed at the end of the hotel corridor to watch our comings and goings and men...

5 Reasons to Visit London this Summer!

By Travelling Divas on May 25, 2016, 10:00 pm | Leave a comment

'When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life', a famous quote from Samuel Johnson, and very, very true. Because there is always something new happening in London, whether it be fashion, culture, the newest dining sensation or the latest hot spot. Not to mention the original 'happenings' that are famous in their own right!

In thecity, there is a constant air of anticipation and excitement which seems to draw people back to this pulsing metropolis over and over again.  I have visited at least 40 times and lived in London for a spell, and I never get tired of it.

My top...

Verona: A City of Style & Elegance

By Travelling Divas on June 22, 2015, 12:00 am | Leave a comment

Piazza Erbe and one of its beautiful medieval walls**

Without question Verona is my favourite city in Italy, and like many small cities in Europe, its historical centre is nice and compact making exploring this gem an absolute delight!   The climate from late spring to mid autumn lends itself to lazy strolls along the river, and early evening aperitivos in your favourite piazza, where elegantly dressed locals enjoy their very social passeggiata and laughing children make the most of the last play of the day.  This is a very feminine and elegant city, offering a...

Bruges: Petite & Beautiful

By Travelling Divas on May 22, 2015, 9:00 am | 1 Comment

Bruges is a city my Significant Other and I have talked about visiting for what feels like forever, and I never thought we would get there. But thanks to airline schedules, competitive airfares and a trip booked to the Anzac 100 year memorial in France this year, the stars aligned and we grabbed the opportunity to finally fulfil this dream.

A chocoholics paradise and a UNESCO World Heritage site, this beautiful city is built for walking and cycling; designed for you to get lost in and then easily finding your way home when you want to.  If you get cold you can escape into one of...

Christmas around the world

By Travelling Divas on December 19, 2014, 9:00 am | Leave a comment

Christmas is one of my favourite times of year – it is one of the few occasions that our family is physically together in one place. And this year will be extra special as we celebrate the first Christmas with my gorgeous granddaughter, who will undoubtedly be spoiled by Santa (and grandma)!

While this year will be spent soaking up the summer heat of Queensland, I can’t help but feel a little excited in anticipation of our Christmas Tale Tour in 2015. A white Christmas sojourn across the other side of the globe is calling my name. Next December we will visit three of the...

Keep your fitness on track during the holidays

By Travelling Divas on November 28, 2014, 9:00 am | Leave a comment

The holiday season is a challenge no matter which way you turn with parties, lots of lovely champagne, canapés and the general need to lay low as the mercury climbs to its highest levels!

Even organising yourself (and whoever may be travelling with you) to get out the door and onto a flight for the holidays can be a challenge, so once you arrive and relax - it can be tempting to let your fitness regime take a break as well.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with taking it easy, but trust me when I say you will feel better if you keep some kind of routine going. So unless you...

Tech Savvy Tips For A Diva Abroad

By Travelling Divas on November 6, 2014, 12:00 am | Leave a comment

We live in a world where there seems to be an app or gadget for almost everything. While I wouldn’t call myself a technology expert, I have found some really great inventions that can come in handy whilst travelling abroad.
Here are my top 5 travel tech essential that I promise will make life easier:

1. Get h-app-y:
I wasn’t joking when I said there’s an app for almost everything. These apps are all free and available on both android and iphones and will have you wondering how you ever survived without them before. Take into consideration it’s probably best to download...

Travelling Beauty: Beauty tips and tricks for Divas that travel!

By Travelling Divas on October 24, 2014, 12:00 am | Leave a comment

Even as a Diva, I know looking good whilst travelling can be difficult at the best of times, and whilst travelling the world is thrilling, the plane ride can be quite the opposite, especially for your skin. Below are my top tips for feeling fresh-faced and beautiful at 30,000 feet:

1. Tie it up!
Whether you are travelling a short distance, or embarking on a long haul journey, avoid attempting to maintain runway styled hair and keep it simple! If you’re like me and have short hair, treat your locks to a leave in moisturising treatment before you fly, and slick it back and away...

East London - out of my comfort zone

By Travelling Divas on September 8, 2014, 12:00 am | Leave a comment

As a frequent London visitor, and one time resident, I have to confess that most of my time has been spent staying in hotels/apartments that are a radius of no more than a 5 minute walk, tube or taxi ride from Harvey Nichols and its surrounds. When I lived here it was Richmond and its royal environs.

So it was with some trepidation that I departed out of my comfort zone and headed east to stay in Bethnal Green - a world away in so many ways from what I am used to! In saying that, it has been a great experience, with a different vibe and cultural feel, some excellent restaurants,...

Going the distance: How to travel (and return home) as friends....

By Travelling Divas on August 26, 2014, 9:00 am | Leave a comment

Since launching Divas & Co. I have been speaking with many people about the different experiences they have had when travelling either together as a couple, with friends or solo.

Many people believe overseas travel is the ‘ultimate’ relationship test! Some of our guests choose to leave their partners at home and let their inner travelling-diva run wild – while others sometimes enjoy sharing the travel experience in mixed company, whether that be with a partner or best friend.

Personally, I have experienced travelling solo, with my best friend and with my husband....

Travel in style from London to Paris…

By Travelling Divas on July 23, 2014, 12:00 am | Leave a comment

When you think style capital of the world Paris automatically springs to mind. But why wait to rendezvous under the Eiffel Tower to indulge in a little ‘French Style’?

Many Australian travelers will choose to explore the fabulous city of London before heading off to Paris – which poses a dilemma; plane or train? There are a many online forums creating confusion about how to travel between these two divine cities. For me however, it is a no brainer - aside from convenience and price, train travel offers a certain romance and Eurostar makes the journey feel truly stylish.

Five French Must Dos

By Travelling Divas on June 30, 2014, 9:00 am | Leave a comment

There is something truly magical about Paris. Its all-encompassing charm, rolling vineyards, elegantly dressed people, gastronomic delights and champagne bubbles offer an abundance of unique travel experiences just waiting to be discovered.

For those Divas eager to visit the French capital I’ve put together five of my favourite must-do experiences - albeit there are soo many more!

  1.  Eat at La Tour D'Argent in Paris. This famous restaurant has been around since the 1500's and is fabulous and the list of diners is amazing.  The view over Notre Dame is extraordinary.
  2. Visit...

Paris - the city of sweets!

By Travelling Divas on June 16, 2014, 9:00 am | Leave a comment

Paris! The city of love, the city of lights, but most importantly the city of sweets! Whether Marie Antoinette truly did declare ‘let them eat cake’ is irrelevant because if you’re heading to Paris, I’m demanding it of you now.

Here at Travelling Divas we’re all about unique travel experiences and often it is the finer details, such as that praline macaron or tarte tatin, nibbled on a sunny afternoon in the Jardin Du Luxembourg, that make the best memories.

However in a city of this size and extravagance, it’s easy to be overwhelmed by the selection, so we’ve developed a list of...

French Champagne Soiree

By Travelling Divas on June 3, 2014, 9:00 am | Leave a comment

On Wednesday 7 May, I was joined by 25 divine Travelling Divas to a French Champagne Soiree at Urbane restaurant, run by renowned champagne consultant and educator Bernadette O’Shea.

It was an evening filled with flowing, French bubbles including the beautiful Louis Roederer Brut Premier and Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label. Each was perfectly accompanied by divine canapés such as herb cured salmon with crème fraiche, crispy pork belly, and jamon with pear chutney on rye (I’m drooling just writing this). Bernadette’s abundant wealth of knowledge and information about our favourite...
